Dating all the back to Southwest Conference in 1915 and running right up to the Big XII Conference in 2012, the Oklahoma Sooners have hoisted the conference crown a total of 44 times. However, no head coach at the University of Oklahoma has been able to replicate Bud Wilkinson's run.
During the 1946 season, Wilkinson coached his squad to a Big 6 Conference title. Unfortunately, the honor was shared with the Kansas Jayhawks after posting a 7-2-1 overall record. The following year, Wilkinson proved it wasn't a fluke earning an outright title after going undefeated in the new Big 7 Conference and posting a 10-1 overall record.
The Sooners became a staple in the college football realm as Wilkinson coached the program to 13 consecutive conference titles (from 1947-1959) collecting three national championships along the way.
His final conference crown came in 1962 under the Big 8 Conference.
The lone challenger to the 14 total conference title under a single coach was Barry Switzer. During his tenure, Switzer racked up twelve Big 8 Conference Crowns alongside ten 10-win season and another three national championships.
