2015 Oklahoma Sooners Countdown To Kickoff | 46 Days!

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Oklahoma Sooners traveled to Ames, Iowa to take on the Iowa State Cyclones. Opening up the game with a 46-yard pass to Sterling Shepard, the tone was set for the entire game. Unfortunately, the reception was the last of the game for Shepard who left with a muscle strain in his leg.

During the outing, Trevor Knight became the first FBS player to throw for three touchdowns and rush for another three. It was certainly a confidence builder for a team that had dropped two games in conference prior to the meeting. At the time it was welcomed as Oklahoma would face the Baylor Bears in Norman next.

Riding the success of the group, Michael Hunnicutt kicked his 72nd field goal, a 44-yarder against the wind, to break a conference record set by Mason Crosby from Colorado.
