With the departures of Keith Ford, KJ Young, and Justice Hansen the Sooners are well on their way to having another fairly large class for 2016. Now that school is out and summer is in full swing, it's time to look at and make predictions for who could find themselves a part of the class of 2016 next February.
Quarterbacks - 1
It's is nice when you have this position locked up this early in recruiting. Kendall's commitment is even more important considering the transfer of Justice Hansen
Austin Kendall 6-2/210 from Waxhaw, NC.
Running Back - 1
Devwah Whaley is a top shelf talent with offers from across the country.
Devwah Whaley 5-10/200 from Beaumont, TX
Wide Receiver - 3 to 4
I took a little bit of a flyer for Salomon, but the Sooners are definitely at or near the top of his list. Even though scholarships are tight, I don't see anyway this class has less than 4 wide receivers in it.
*COMMIT* Adrian Hardy 6-3/185 from Houston, TX.
*JUCO COMMIT* Ryan Parker from 6-2/180 Tyler, TX.
Camron Williams 6-3/200 from Dallas, TX.
Darnell Salomon 6-2/190 from Miami, FL.
Tight End - 0
This could change, but as of now the Sooners just simply don't have the scholarship or need for a TE in the class of 2016. Now watch me be proven wrong and this completely change.
Offensive Line - 4
After last year's haul, offensive line recruiting has slowed this year. I still expect the Sooners to land four lineman even though I don't have much direction regarding the players outside of Kellen Diesch and Rowdy Frederick, although Boudreaux is definitely high on the Sooners.
OT Kellen Diesch 6-7/270 from Trophy Club, TX.
OG Rowdy Frederick 6-4/330 from Broken Arrow, OK. (no OU offer yet)
JUCO OT Ashton Julious 6-8/330 from Scranton, PA.
One additional player I'm not ready to put on the list yet. Parker Boudreaux is really close to being on prediction list, but I can't put him yet. Other possibles T.J Fiailoa and possible even recent TCU commit Tyler Brown.
Defensive Line - 3
The state of Kansas should again be kind to the Sooners as they have a great chance with two defensive ends from the Sunflower State. Couple that with big time DT star in Daniels and this should be a quality group even though the numbers are tight.
Xavier Kelly 6-4/240 from Wichita, KS.
Amani Bledsoe 6-5/265 from Lawrence, KS.
Chris Daniels 6-3/300 from Euless, TX.
Linebacker - 5
The biggest need in the class should be filled with quality players. It would be a huge boost to pick up another commitment soon.
*COMMIT* Jon-Michael Terry 6-2/225 from Tulsa, OK.
Dontavious Jackson 6-2/240 from Houston, TX.
Caleb Kelly 6-3/215 from Fresno, CA.
Pernell Jefferson 6-2/235 from New Orleans, LA.
Calvin Bundage 6-3/200 from Edmond, OK.
Defensive Back - 4
I would hate to be in Kerry Cooks position. He is trying to sell playing defensive back at OU to players who watched an atrocious pass defense last season. Cooks will definitely land quality players, but I think that the secondary will improve under his watch and give him the much needed ammunition to recruit at a much higher level in the years to come. That being said, there is some definite talent in this group.
