Overcoming injuries during the early portion of his career as an Oklahoma Sooner, Billy Sims won the Heisman Trophy in 1978. During his Heisman campaign, the junior running back carried the ball 256 times racking up 1,896 yards and 22 touchdowns. The effort marked a single season school record for rushing yards before becoming only the sixth junior to take home the Heisman.
