We've finally reached the point where kickoff is less than 80 days away. While any number of things can take place between now and Akron, here is an overview of the schedule as well as a prediction on how the Sooners will finish next season.
September 5th - Akron (1-0) Win
I expect this game to start off slowly as the Sooners have a slight adjustment period with a new offensive scheme. This game will not be near as close as the final score, as the Sooners control the game throughout, Final Score 37-13.
September 12th - @ Tennessee (2-0) Win
This will be a rough game where both teams look terrible and countless mistakes are made throughout. The Sooners look slightly better than the Vols and hold on for an ugly, yet hard fought victory Final Score 27-21.
September 19th - Tulsa (3-0) Win
Hooray for 11:00 a.m. kickoffs. This game will be over before it begins. The Sooners might not score as much as people should think, but it won't be close. Final Score 38-7.
October 3rd - West Virginia (4-0) Win
The Mountaineers and Sooners offenses begin to show life in the 2nd half. OU will outscore the Mountaineers and leave Owen Field 4-0. Final Score 37-31.
October 10th - @ Texas (5-0) Win
The Red River Shootout is anybody's guess. Last year the Sooners got outplayed and still walked out of the Cotton Bowl victors. I can't ever pick the Longhorns to win. Final Score 31-28.
October 17 - @ Kansas State (6-0) Win
The Sooners should have won last year in Norman, but you now the result. Even though this game is in Manhattan, I have the Sooners winning by a comfortable margin. The X-factor is no more Tyler Lockett, which should automatically mean the Sooners don't get burned for nearly as many touchdown passes. Final Score 37-21.
October 24 - Texas Tech (7-0) Win
The Red Raiders are still a mess and I think Kingsbury is in over his head. The Red Raiders will score, but not nearly enough. Final Score 48-34.
October 31 - @ Kansas (8-0) Win
The Sooners won't look pretty, but will still pull out the win. The Jayhawks are still the Jayhawks. Final Score 37-21.
November 7th - Iowa State (9-0) Win
This is not basketball and the game is in Norman. It will not be close. The Sooners play their best game of the season and win convincingly 45-10.
November 14 - @ Baylor (9-1) Loss
I just cant pick the Sooners to beat the Bears until they actually do. Being that this game is Waco, and what happened last season, I have to pick the Bears to win. Final Score 41-27.
November 21 - TCU (10-1) Win
The Sooners all but won in Ft. Worth last year, and I think that TCU slips up in Norman. You can call me crazy if you want. Final Score 34-24.
November 28 - @OKState (11-1) Win
The Pokes really aren't that good of a football team and they are lame. I expect a thriller, but in the end the Sooners make more big plays than the Pokes. Final Score 38-35.
You might call me crazy and think these predictions are seen completely through crimson glasses and you may be correct. The Sooners were an extra point and the worst special teams decision I have ever seen away from winning 10 games last season. Frank Shannon is back. Joe Mixon will line up in the backfield and I don't think it is possible for the QB's to play worse than last season.
Even with the 11-1 record the Sooners finish just outside of the playoff.
So how crazy am I? What are your predictions for the 2015 season?
