The Sooners must recruit the state of Texas well for them to have success. This has always been the case and will continue to be the case. While this is obvious, I thought I would give a quick overview of what players from Texas could find themselves a part of the class of 2016.

1. RB Devway Whaley 5-10/195 from Beaumont, TX.

If you were wondering who tops the running back wishlist for the Sooners this tweet will put that to bed.

Whaley is definitely trending in the Sooners direction.

2. WR Camron Williams 6-3/200 from Dallas, TX.

A big tall outside receiver is a huge part of any successful class. I fully expect Williams to end up in Norman.

3. OT Kellen Diesch 6-7/272 from Trophy Club, TX.

Diesch will have to add some weight, but possesses the frame to be a top shelf OT in college. He has ties to Norman and I have him a part of this class.

4. OG Denzel Okafor 6-4/290 from Lewisville, TX.

Denzel has picked up offers from Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, and the Sooners over the past month. His recruitment is taking off. The Sooners are definitely in a good place for him.

5. OLB Mark Jackson 6-3/215 from Cibolo, TX.

While the Sooners were thought to be eliminated nearly a month ago, many are reporting that new DL coach Diron Reynolds has REALLY put the Sooners back in the mix, if not out in front.

6. MLB Dontavious Jackson 6-2/240 from Houston, TX.

Dontavious really likes the Sooners. The problem is that he really likes a lot of schools. The Sooners are definitely in the thick of things. I believe they may even slightly lead.

7. OLB Marvin Terry 6-2/230 from Dalas, TX.

Terry will decide most likely between TTech and the Sooners. I expect the Sooners to win out.

8. DB Jared Mayden 6-0/187 from Sacshe, TX

Mayden appears to be down to Ohio State and the Sooners. This is really really close, but getting Mayden would be a major win in the class of 2016.

9. DB DeMarkus Acy 6-1/170 from Dallas, TX.

Acy is kind of an unknown to this point, but the Sooners are his biggest offer.

10. DT Chris Daniels 6-3/300 from Euless, TX

Daniels recently released his top 10, but this is most likely a TCU, Baylor, OU battle.

11. Marcel Southall 6-3/270 from Duncanville, TX.

Southall went from unknown to big time prospect over the past few months picking up offers from Florida, Alabama, Texas, Baylor, and the Sooners.

12. Michael Williams 6-2/300 from Fort Worth, TX

While he has a huge offer list, the Sooners are definitely at or near the top.

13. DB Chris Brown  5-11/190 from Houston, TX.

He just recently picked up an offer and is teammates with Dontavious Jackson.

These 13 players could find themselves joining current commits:

JUCO WR Ryan Parker 6-2/175 from Tyler, TX.

WR Adrian Hardy 6-3/185 from Houston, TX.
