Last season, the Oklahoma Sooners battled through the losers' bracket to reach the Big 12 Championship Game. Now, a year later, Pete Hughes and company attempt to duplicate the feat. Oklahoma advanced into Saturday of the tournament but ousting the Kansas State Wildcats with some late game heroics to secure a 3-1 victory. The win sets up Bedlam in Tulsa once again.

Kolbey Carpenter singled to start the ninth inning later moving over to second on a bunt. A wild pitch from Lucas Benanti allowed easy passage from second to third for Carpenter. Gaining a bit of control, Benanti struck out Sheldon Nuese bringing Robert Tasin to the plate. Connecting with a fastball, Tasin hit a slow roller toward shortstop. Mishandling the ball, Tasin reached first recording an RBI as Carpenter provided the go ahead run.

Following the excitement, Hunter Haley knocked a double while Tasin was held up at third. However, another wild pitch allowed the designated hitter to cross the plate adding an insurance run before heading to the bottom of the inning.

The Wildcats were unable to answer with the final three outs leading to elimination. Oklahoma goes toe-to-toe with Oklahoma State on Saturday and must win back-to-back games to advance to the championship.
