Oklahoma State Cowboys Baseball Wins With 3-0 Shutout Of West Virginia

Oklahoma State blanking West Virginia in Wednesday's night cap finalized Thursday's schedule for the second day of the Big 12 Championship. The Cowboys will go on to face Kansas State on Thursday evening while the Mountaineers will go up against Oklahoma in an elimination game.

OSU capitalized on four WVU errors and scattered three runs through eight innings while hurlers Conor Costello and Trey Cobb limited the Mountaineers to just six hits and kept them off the scoreboard. Costello drew the start and went four innings before giving way to Cobb who would pitch five innings of perfect baseball by retiring all fifteen batters he faced with five of them coming via strikeout.

An RBI single by Donnie Walton plated Carey Hassel for the game's first score in the bottom of the third. An inning later Dustin Williams led off with a solo home run that put the Cowboys in front 2-0. The score would remain that way until the bottom of the eighth when Walton went yard to right field for the game's final score.

Only five West Virginia batters were able to notch a hit against Oklahoma State's pitching. Mountaineers' lead-off man, Kyle Davis, was the only WVU batter to record multiple hits by going 2-for-4 from the plate.

Oklahoma State was the only higher seeded team to beat a lower seed with #8 Baylor, #6 Kansas State, and #5 Texas all getting wins on Wednesday.
