Vikings Take Tyrus Thompson in 6th Round

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The wait was a little longer than expected, but Tyrus Thompson now finds himself a Minnesota Viking. He was selected number 185 overall in the 6th round.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">1st-Team All-Big 12 T <a href="https://twitter.com/TyrusT_71">@TyrusT_71</a> is now a member of the <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Vikings?src=hash">#Vikings</a>!&#10;&#10;<a href="http://t.co/ildiwKQ0aZ">http://t.co/ildiwKQ0aZ</a> <a href="http://t.co/NIYCeQ1vwu">pic.twitter.com/NIYCeQ1vwu</a></p>&mdash; Minnesota Vikings (@Vikings) <a href="https://twitter.com/Vikings/status/594596704361447425">May 2, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

There are several things that stand out about Tyrus:

1. He is a man of impeccable character. He is not only one of the nicest players you will ever meet, but also is easily one of the first players that you would want to represent your team.

2. He is also a really good football player. Time will tell how he fits with the Vikings, but there is no denying that he will put in the work necessary to maximize his potential.

Thompson was a 3 year starter while at OU, anchoring an offensive line that was arguably one of the best in college football. At the conclusion of the 2014 season he was named 1st All-Big 12 by the coaches.

Assuming that Adrian Peterson remains a Viking and they continue to be a run oriented team, it wouldn't surprise me to see Thompson make a nice impact for the Vikings in the future.
