The Oklahoma Sooners dropped the third straight game at home to the TCU Horned Frogs, this time by a final of 4-2. The occasion marks the first time the Sooners have been swept as Pete Hughes now sports a 32-25 overall record. Regardless, Oklahoma locked up the No. 3 Seed in the Big XII Championship scheduled for a Wednesday start.

This go around, the Horned Frogs jumped out to an early lead after Evan Skoug drew a lead-off walk and rounded for home on a double by Garrett Crain. The TCU second baseman later crossed the plate to give the visitors a 2-0 cushion off a base hit.

However, Anthony Hermelyn was up to his usual antics in the bottom of the foruth. Continuing to find success at the plate in this series, Hermelyn sent a two-run blast over the left field wall effectively tying up the ballgame. The junior finished the series 7-of-14 with eight RBIs.

Two innings later, Skoug created the game winning opportunity for TCU by finding his way on base with two outs. Nolan Brown doubled behind him putting pressure on the Sooners to make a play. Unfortunately, Crain connected on a single as both Skoug and Brown were waved around the bases for a 4-2 lead.

Attempting to match the Horned Frogs, Hermelyn singled allowing Kolbey Carpenter to advance to third. With a single out and runners on the corners, Sheldon Nuese stepped into the box. Grounding into the game ending double-play, the opportunity escaped as Oklahoma remained winless over the weekend.
