In a back-and-forth battle, the Oklahoma Sooners found themselves on the losing end of a high scoring game. With the wind blowing toward left field, OU dropped their second consecutive game and subsequently the series to the TCU Horned Frogs in Norman. Now standing 32-24 overall, the Sooners hope to end the regular season on a high note before starting tournament play.
With a strong wind at his back, Anthony Hermelyn sent a two-run blast over the wall as Oklahoma found themselves with another early lead. However, Jeremie Fagnan answered in the fourth collecting the Horned Frogs first hit of the night with a solo homerun. The score opened the flood gates as Nolan Brown crushed the second homer of the inning, this time a two-run shot over the centerfield wall. Capping off the inning, Derek Odell would put TCU up 4-2 with the third blast of the fourth.
Continuing to match each other run for run, the game quickly approached the bottom of the ninth with OU down by dour runs. Hoping to rally with two outs, a wild pitch allowed two runners to advance into scoring position. Later, Robert Tasin singled off Riley Farrell pushing both runs across the plate. Farrell shut the door on any opportunity moving forward securing his 14th save of the season.
Oklahoma takes the field one final time against the Horned Frogs on Saturday at 2:00 PM. Right-handed pitcher, Alec Hansen is expected to start.
