Oklahoma Sooners Baseball | Anthony Hermelyn Named Big XII Player of the Week

Rich DeCray

For the first time in his career, Junior INF Anthony Hermelyn has been tabbed as the Big XII Conference Player of the Week. The occasion marks the second time an Oklahoma Sooner has earned Player of the Week honors this season as the McKinney, Texas native joins Kolbey Carpenter on the list.

During the four game stretch, Hermelyn recorded a hit on 9-of-17 at bats (.529) en route to a perfect record throughout the week starting with Central Arkansas. With consecutive solid outings against the Kansas Jayhawks over the weekend, the first baseman pushed his team leading 16 multi-hit games to sixteen on the year.

Scoring three runs and driving in three more, since Tuesday, Hermelyn helped Oklahoma claim their first conference series sweep under Head Coach Pete Hughes. Up next, the Sooners travel to Stillwater to participate in a non-conference match-up against in-state rival, the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Congratulations Anthony!
