Led by Peyton Little's 15 points, four Sooners scored in double figures as OU moved past West Virginia by a final score of 67-55 on Saturday. OU used a 9-0 run to coast into the half with a 34-20 lead and kept the Mountaineers at a safe distance the rest of the way.
"Low turnovers, high rebounds, that's how you beat that team," Oklahoma head coach Sherri Coale said. "I thought we did a terrific job of being secure with the basketball and going to get it off the glass on both ends of the floor."
OU out rebounded WVU 40-32 and turned the ball over just nine times to West Virginia's 10. Joining Little in double figures were Kaylon Williams (14), Maddie Manning (11), and Sharane Campbell (10).
Oklahoma had split their series with West Virginia during the conference season, winning in Norman and losing in Morgantown. Now they'll face another team they split with in the Texas Longhorns. OU beat Texas 70-59 in Norman on January 14 but dropped a double-overtime heart breaker in Austin fifteen days later by a final of 84-81.
Now, with a trip to the conference championship game on the line, the Red River Rivalry is renewed one last time this basketball season as the two schools will go at it at 4:00 on Sunday afternoon. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1.
