Oklahoma Sooners Baseball Report | Trying To Bounce Back From A Bad Week

The Sooners start a new week of baseball tonight when they host Central Arkansas.

Last Week & Season Standings

Oklahoma took it on the chin last week by going just 1-3. They started with a 4-3 loss at #4 TCU, in extra innings, and then dropped the first two of their series at Baylor before posting a 13-3 win over the Bears on Sunday afternoon. The weekend dropped Oklahoma record to 3-3 in conference play which ranks them fourth in the Big 12 (tied with Texas Tech). They are 18-12 on the season.

The Leaders

Four Oklahoma batters are hitting .300 or better on the year, led by Craig Aikin's .361 average. Aikin has also scored a team-high 28 runs on the year. Kolbey Carpenter (.333) and Sheldon Neuse (.302) lead the team in home runs with 5 each. As a team the Sooners have sent the ball out of the yard a total of 23 times with five players having hit multiple home runs on the year. Neuse is also the team RBI leader at 28 on the year.

From the mound, Robert Tasin leads an Oklahoma staff with his ERA of just 1.44 on the year. As a staff the Sooners have a combined 2.82 ERA and have fanned a total of 273 batters.

Tonight's Opponent

Central Arkansas comes to Norman with a 14-8 record on the season. Tyler Langley leads the Bears with a batting average of .360 on the year. Braxton Phillips matches Oklahoma's Kolbey Carpenter and Sheldon Neuse with 5 home runs.

UCA looks to put righty Corey Herndon (0-0/18.00 ERA) on the mound against Oklahoma's Adam Choplick (1-1/2.21 ERA).
