For the second time this season, Kolbey Carpenter has been tabbed as the Big XII Conference Player of the Week. The occasion marks the first time an Oklahoma Sooners Baseball Player has been named Player of the Week twice in one season since Matt Oberste completed the feat in 2013.
En route to the award, Carpenter battled with the No. 10 Texas Tech Red Raiders over the weekend. Powering the offense, the junior infielder/outfielder connected on a three-run blast on Saturday to give Oklahoma a lead after dropping game one on Friday. Carpenter continued to dominate at the plate going 4-of-4 on the day batting leadoff. The effort secured a 5-2 win knotting up the series heading into Sunday.
During the rubber match, Carpenter recorded the game-winning RBI as the Sooners claimed their opening conference series. Now standing 17-9 on the year, Oklahoma looks to continue the success with a non-conference match-up against the TCU Horned Frogs on Tuesday in Ft. Worth.
