Why Sooner Fans Should Reconsider Cheering For Dallas Cowboys

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Would you do it? Would you seriously consider changing the NFL team you cheer for?

Many Sooner fans have been in mourning over the past 24-48 hours. The reason being is that many Sooner fans also double as Dallas Cowboy fans. If you are a diehard Cowboy fan, you automatically hate the Eagles. With the trade bringing Sam Bradford to Philly and Demarco Murray signing with the Eagles in free agency, a rooting conflict has now arisen.

One of my friends even remarked with a few choice four letter words in disgust over what has taken place over the past few days.

From purely a football perspective the Bradford trade has to be a breath of fresh air. It's easy to debate the merits of trading Foles for Bradford, but for the Sooner fan who wants to see Bradford succeed this a great fit. Chip Kelly runs a fast paced offense predicated on a QB making quick decisions with the ball in his hands. That sound like an offense tailor made for Bradford.

Regarding Demarco Murray, this was his chance a big payday. A short shelf life for running backs is the norm in the NFL. Teams see them as expendable, and they usually begin to hit a wall as they approach 30. Murray cashed in on his big season Dallas (5yr/$42 million) and now the same backfield that set all sorts of records in Norman is back together.

Another former Sooner great shared his thoughts on the moves by the Eagles:

I for one can't wait to see what this duo will do again in Philly. In fact if I were a Cowboy fan, I might even consider changing my favorite team.
