Oklahoma Baseball Notes | Carpenter Claims National And Conference Honors - Wise Out With Broken Hand

Rich DeCray - SBN

Kolby Carpenter's big week earned him some honors both locally and nationally. On Monday the Big 12 Conference named him the Player of the Week and Collegiate Baseball News dubbed him as the National Player of the Week.

In Oklahoma's five games last week he batted .471, scored seven times, drove in 9 runs, hit three home runs while also recording a double and a triple. I guess you could say that the kid was busy. Carpenter makes it back-to-back weeks for the Sooners having a conference Player of the Week. Pitcher Jake Elliott was recognized last week for his performance on opening day against Notre Dame.

In a bit of bad news for the Sooners, junior outfielder Alex Wise will miss six to eight weeks after suffering a broken left hand. The injury occurred against the Washington Huskies when he was hit by a pitch. Wise has scored eight runs this season and driven in five.

Oklahoma's Tuesday game at Dallas Baptist has been postponed due to the winter storm. The Sooners are scheduled to host BYU for a four game series that is set to start on Thursday.
