Rumors were swirling and those rumors proved to be correct as the Sooners hosted Safety Prentice McKinney over the weekend. McKinney checks in at 6'2" 180lbs. and starred for South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas, TX.

His recruitment has been interesting. He was a long time Notre Dame commitment, then decommitted from the Fighting Irish. He then committed to UNC, only to visit the Sooners this weekend. He had been recruited strongly by current/soon to be(?) DB coach Kerry Cooks. It goes without saying that McKinney's recruitment could be directly tied to Cooks heading to Norman.
There are several things that McKinney's recruitment and probable commitment could signal.
1- Are any of the current DB waivering?
I find this really hard to believe. Haughton, Sunderland, and Stephens appear to be more than solid.
2- The secondary for the Sooners needs an infusion of talent.
This is most definitely the case. I also believe that this all but guarantees that Ahmad Thomas is moved to LB.
McKinney is a player that makes the Sooners a better football team going forward. I wouldn't be shocked if he is a Sooner on NSD.
