Behind two win during the course of the week, another Oklahoma Sooner has added his name to the weekly honors list. This time, it's Ryan Spangler who was named Big XII Player of the Week for the first time during his career.
Shooting a nearly unheard of 78.6% from the floor, the junior forward averaged 16.5 points per game to go alongside 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. The effort from the big man helped Oklahoma sail past Texas Tech as the Sooners set a conference record for fewest points allowed. Then, Spangler helped secure a come back win on the road against in-state rival, Oklahoma State to complete the regular season sweep.
Look for the 6-8 forward to continue to progress as Spangler output over the last six games has increased to 12.8 points per outing. Oklahoma needs another good to great performance in order to earn a win against a tough West Virginia team this week.
Congratulations Ryan! The honor is well deserved.
