Oklahoma Sooners MBB | TaShawn Thomas Earns Big XII Newcomer Of The Week Honors

Senior forward TaShawn Thomas has been named the Big XII Newcomer of the Week. Playing above his seasonal marks on the week, Thomas earned the honor for the third time this year despite suffering a loss to Kansas St.

During a top twenty-five matchup on Big Monday against Iowa State, the Houston transfer helped lead his team to a comeback victory. Pouring in 22 points while adding 11 rebounds to secure a double-double, Thomas tied a Big XII season record with 11 field goals. Most impressively, the Sooner forward tacked on five assists and three blocks in what could be considered an upset win.

To follow up the stellar outing, the Sooner forward notched 10 points and 5 rebounds to go along side another three blocked shots. There's no denying this forward continues to provide a spark on defense as the group buys into what Lon Kruger is preaching.
