After arriving on campus in February of 2013, Jerry Montgomery quickly became one of the best, if not the best, recruiter on the Oklahoma Sooners coaching staff. Coaching the defensive line for two seasons, Montgomery received a promotion to co-defensive coordinator five weeks ago. However, a new chapter in the 35-year old coach's life is currently unfolding.

Moving on to pursue a life long dream, Montgomery expressed nothing but gratitude toward the university.
"I have been offered an unbelievable opportunity to pursue my dream of coaching in the National Football League," said Montgomery. "There are very few jobs that I would have even considered. Our family has been blessed to have represented the University of Oklahoma, and we will always have a great appreciation for our time working for Coach Stoops and the Sooners." - via Soonersports.com
Jason Kersey of the Oklahoman seems to have tracked down which franchise pulled Montgomery from the college ranks.

All of the news comes one day after the Sooners Football Program officially announced the 2015 Coaching Staff. With spring practices scheduled to start on March 7th, Bob Stoops must find a defensive line coach in a hurry.
While the Sooners lose a tremendous coaching a recruiting talent, the NFL and the Packers pick up a quality coach in Montgomery. Best wishes in all that the future holds for you and your family coach!
