Oklahoma Sooners Football / Sooners Set to Hire Kerry Cooks as DB Coach?

There has been tons of speculation. There has been virtually no information regarding this search. All the speculation appears to ended as the Sooners have identified their next DB Coach. He is Kerry Cooks. Kerry currently is the defensive back coach for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Notre Dame 247 site which is affiliated with CBS Sports tweeted out the following

Kerry has had an interesting coach history. He is a graduate of Iowa (2000), He's worked for Kansas State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Notre Dame. He has coached both Linebackers and defensive backs. Interestingly enough, he was the Co-DC at Notre Dame from 2012-2013.

As far as his recruiting abilities, Rivals.com has him on their top 25 recruiter lists. He has snagged players from Texas, Louisiana, and California. He would definitely be a huge asset on the recruiting trail.

He also has vast experience in the 3-4.

There is a huge question regarding this hire. What does it do to Mike Stoops. If Cooks were to come to Norman, would he want or be given a Co-DC tag. With Jerry Montgomery as another Co-DC you could along with Mike Stoops have too many cooks in the kitchen.

Further if Cooks is the DB coach, what does that do for Mike Stoops, as his specialty (in spite of the play on the field lasts year) is in the defensive back field.? This will definitely be a an interesting story to follow.
