Should the unthinkable happen to Baker Mayfield, the Sooners would turn over control of the offense to Cody Thomas. Bob Stoops confirmed it today during his press conference. In fact Thomas would have been the guy had Mayfield gone down in the Bedlam game.

If you remember Cody Thomas gave up playing baseball for the Sooners this past offseason to focus solely on football. He showed some signs of promise in the Spring, but was ultimately beat out by both Mayfield and Knight.
This news obviously coincides with Trevor Knight being granted a full release to pursue transfer possibilities. Cody Thomas stats on the season: 1-1 for a grand total of 1 yard passing. Basically Mayfield must stay healthy.
