The College Football Playoff Committee has official released their rankings. With a bit of drama leading up to the release, the debate has been settled...at least for now. Only Championship Weekend remains for teams to make a case. Afterward, the committee will finalize the rankings and announce the programs included in the second college playoff. Currently, nothing inside the top four has changed. However, expect chaos to ensue throughout he week as fans and universities lobby for one over the other.

Rank School Record
Clemson Tigers 12-0
Alabama Crimson Tide 11-1
Oklahoma Sooners 11-1
Iowa Hawkeyes 12-0
Michigan State Spartans 11-1
Ohio State Buckeyes 11-1
Stanford Cardinal 10-2
Notre Dame Fighting Irish 10-2
Florida State Seminoles 10-2
North Carolina Tarheels 11-1
TCU Horned Frogs 10-2
Baylor Bears 9-2
Ole Miss Rebels 9-3
Northwestern Wildcats 10-2
Michigan Wolverines 9-3
Oregon Ducks 9-3
Oklahoma State Cowboys 10-2
Florida Gators 10-2
Houston Cougars 11-1
USC Trojans 8-4
LSU Tigers 8-3
Temple Owls 10-2
Navy Midshipmen 9-2
Utah Utes 9-3
Tennessee Volunteers 8-4

The Oklahoma Sooners continue to hold down the No. 3 ranking after dismantling a top ranked opponent and in-state rival, the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the road. Many think the first ticket to the playoff was punched with the win as OU extended their record to 5-0 against ranked opponents. Yet, I'm not so sure after the debacle that unfolded a year ago. Can the Big XII erase the bad taste of being left out and win it all?

In other news, the Big 10 will land at least one team in the playoff. It comes down to the Conference Champion but a realistic shot of Ohio State returning to defend their title remains alive as well. For now, we know it's either Michigan State or Iowa but not both.
