Oklahoma Sooners Remain Undefeated With 65-48 Win Over The Wisconsin Badgers

Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

The nationally ranked Oklahoma Sooners defeated the Wisconsin Badgers 65-48 to remain undefeated on the young season. While both teams failed to play particularly well, OU led from start to finish. However, the group relied on a couple of supporting characters to get the job done this go around.

Leaning heavily on Ryan Spangler, the forward produced early and often. Finishing with 20 points, one shy of tying a career high, the senior connected on 7-of-9 attempts from the floor. The effort put in during the offseason revealed itself in the pick and pop as Spangler hit 2-of-3 from behind the arc. As Spangler continues to develop the range on his shot, things will open up for the slashers like Hield and Rashard Odomes.

Helping the cause, Isaiah Cousins added another 14 points of his own. But, the defensive performance deserves recognition.

On the afternoon, the Sooners held Wisconsin to a dismal 23.5% shooting from the floor. It's tough to compete when failing to shoot the ball well. Yet, the effect becomes magnified when the best player, in this case Bronson Koenig, goes 3-of-14 from the three point land.

Nigel Hayes picked up much of the slack finishing with a game high 20 points of his own. Unfortunately for the Badgers, Hayes was the only player who managed to score in double-digits. The road may be long for Wisconsin until experience develops at all positions.

Next up, the Sooners host Central Arkansas on Thursday.
