For the second straight week, the Incarnate Word Cardinals will tip off against a nationally ranked opponent. This time, they travel to Norman to take on the No. 7 Oklahoma Sooners led by Buddy Hield. The meeting marks the first time in history the two programs have met on the hardwood.
Currently, UIW averages 73.3 points per game while the shooting average remains a tick below 40% on the year. Shooting 37.2% from the field, tenth year head coach, Ken Burmeister, hopes to see that number increase. If that's going to be the case, then it likely starts with senior Kyle Hittle.
Hittle averages 15 points per game while two other held shoulder the load. However, the senior guard remains the most deadly threat from beyond the arc. Defenses must close out quickly each and every time Hittle touches the ball around the perimeter as he's shooting above 50% from three-point land. Behind him, Jontrell Walker has the ability to make a living from the free throw line. Averaging 13.3 points per contest, Walker has only missed a single free throw attempt this season.
Last but not least, Mitchell Badillo contributes heavily on both ends of the floor. Defensively, Badillo racks up three steal per game while dishing out three assists. Yet, the senior adds another ten points a night to the scoreboard. The trio will put everything they have on the floor to stop the Sooners. Tip off is at 7PM tonight on Sooner Sports TV.
