Heading into the season, the Oklahoma Sooners secondary remained a bit of question mark. However, this group continues to flash their potential all over the field anchored by none other than Zack Sanchez. In his first start since suffering an injury, Sanchez recorded two interceptions against the TCU Horned Frogs. The effort earn the cornerback the label of Big XII Defensive Player of the Week.
The honor marks the third time this season Sanchez has been tabbed as the conference defensive player of the week and fourth time in his career. Currently leading the Big XII in interceptions with six, it appears as though the star defensive back is on the way to First Team All-Conference honors as well.
In total, the Sooners held their Saturday opponent to 390 yards of offense, a far cry from the Frogs usual output. Throughout the year, Oklahoma has made a habit of slowing down each conference foe regardless of venue.
