Van Jefferson seemed to be all but locked in to Georgia. Then the college coaching carousel hit the Georgia Bulldogs hard. Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo ended at following Jim McElwain to Colorado State. This caused Van to begin to question if the Bulldogs were a fit for him going forward. Van opened up his commitment and now is several schools, one of which is the Sooners. He is scheduled to visit next week after the dead period ends.

Van is a virtual unknown to most Sooner fans, but clearly has the attention of multiple big time programs. He has offers from schools such as Auburn, Tenn, Ohio St, Ole Miss, and the Sooners. He is from Brentwood, TN, but surprisingly never really considered the Vols. Most assume that was because of the large number of WR on the Tennessee depth chart.
One would have to question whether the Sooners have a realistic chance with Jefferson if they don't have a WR coach on staff. I guess the could just let Montgomery recruit him, as he is quickly becoming one of the most prolific recruiters in college football. The visit of Jefferson might be a tip that Bob Stoops already has in mind who will replace Norvell and the hire will be announced before the dead period ends.
Here is a short video clip of Jefferson in action.
