Good news continues to stream in for Oklahoma's football program in terms of player retention. The latest member of the squad to announce his return is all-conference corner Zack Sanchez.
Comin back for one las year wit my brothers ... Can't wait to be back in Norman to get the work started,Thank yu to everyone for the support
— Zack Sanchez (@ZSanchez15) January 5, 2015
A freshman All American in 2013, Sanchez followed up his first season with 39 tackles, 8 pass breakups, and 6 interceptions in 2014. He was named as a member to the All Big 12 First Team by the conference coaches and the AP.
His Monday announcement is particularly key as Oklahoma is looking to rebound from a poor defensive season where a lack of experience in the secondary hurt in a bad way. The Sooners gave up an average of 272.7 passing yards per game which ranked them next to last in the conference in pass defense.
Sanchez, who will be a redshirt junior, in 2015 appears to have hinted that next fall will be his final one in Norman though by saying that he's, "back for one las(t) year."
