MONDAY MORNING BULLETPOINTS – 9/8/14

For some reason, I'm in New Hampshire.

  • Happy Monday, Sooners fans! I’m traveling this week, so your Monday bulletpoints will be short and sweet.
  • If the NCAA allows players to be paid, do you think Tennessee will have to change its nickname to “The Employees?”
  • "Reporters always ask me, 'Have I found a home yet?' I think my home is the end zone." – Oklahoma end/linebacker/large person Geneo Grissom on his pick-six.
  • In this week’s installment of Statistics-That-Don’t-Mean-Anything: KSU’s Tyler Lockett got all the preseason hype, but Sterling Shepard’s put up better numbers through the first two games. Lockett so far has 7 catches for 145 yards and a touchdown; Shep’s got 12 catches for 226 yards and 2 TD’s. Once the level of competition for both of these talented receivers escalates, it’ll be nice to see if they stay neck-and-neck.
  • Spending all Saturday on airplanes, I was unable to put together the Conference Recap this week. How did Texas do…?
  • INTERREGNUM. Noun 1. a period when normal government is suspended, especially between successive reigns or regimes. I tend to refer to the period between Barry Switzer and Bob Stoops as the Interregnum of Oklahoma football. During these dark ages, Oklahoma fielded several starting quarterbacks, who are the subject of this week’s poll.
  • NON-FOOTBALL OKLAHOMA LINK OF THE WEEK: Seriously, just click this to get your Boomer Sooner on.
  • Don’t you hate it when the kicker for your fantasy team beats your real-life team? Sorry, Saints, it was my fault.
  • Coach Heupel got it exactly right when he called up the quarterback draw that led Trevor Knight to his first rushing touchdown of the year.  Not only for putting another six points on Tulsa, but also to serve notice that defensive coordinators should play scared with their linebackers.
  • Peace and love, Sooners fans. I’mma be on airplanes again all day next Saturday, and will probably miss the Tennessee game. Root hard for me.
