Our Friday Locks segment got off to a bit of a rough start last week with a combined 5-7 record. I was the only one to have a winning record over the weekend but even at that I cheated and picked the games that were at even odds. So to make up for it, I'm going with all double-digit favorites this week.
Name | Last Week | Season |
Matt | 3-0 | 3-0 |
Donnie | 1-2 | 1-2 |
Rich | 1-2 | 1-2 |
St. Sooner | 0-3 | 0-3 |
This week we have strong feelings on Farmageddon as well as South Carolina vs. East Carolina. The crazy thing is that we have agreement...which could be a bad sign.
Rich
Kansas St. (-12) vs Iowa St. - If the Cyclones showing in week 1 was an indicator of how the season was going to go...the outlook is bleek. On the other hand, I have no reason to doubt Coach Snyder. Kansas St. wants to control their own destiny in the Big 12 race. With a talent like Tyler Lockett, I'd say KSU wins by two scores if not more.
Stanford (-3) vs USC - The Trojans have plenty of talent to go around. However, they are still trying to solidify their identity. A tough road test against one of the PAC-12's elite, Stanford, will gage exactly how far they have come since parting ways with Lane Kiffin. Unfortunately for USC, I don't think it is far enough.
South Carolina (-16.5) vs East Carolina - An early and surprising loss for the Gamecocks in week 1 means this team is look to rebound. Unfortunately for ECU, they are standing in the way. SC is still a very good football team and looks to prove that moving forward.
Saint Sooner
South Carolina (-16.5) East Carolina - Remember that one time when East Carolina was scary and South Carolina was sorry? That was a good, short time. After a national tv embarrassment, I'll take Scarylina at home to cover 16.5.
Pittsburgh (-4.5) at Boston College - I hate everything about Boston College that isn't Doug Flutie. It's a personal thing. They knocked my Hoosiers out of the NCAAs twentyplus years ago -- I'll let them know when I'm over it.
Vanderbilt (+20) vs. Mississippi - Vanderbilt's team is the Commodores. Lionel Ritchie's band was the Commodores. Lionel Ritchie could dance on the ceiling. So if Vandy played in a dome, they'd never lose. I still wouldn't take the twenty point spread.
Donnie
BYU (-1) over Texas 27-13 - With 3 OL starters out and a new QB the wheels are quickly coming off
in Austin. This will be the beginning of an ugly season in for first year coach Charlie Strong
Ole Miss over Vandy (+20) 31-17 - Vandy is not as bad as they looked against Temple. This game will
be close with the Rebels scoring late to put them up by 2 TDs.
Notre Dame over Michigan (+4) 30-28 - Norte Dame will be much improved this year with Golson back
at QB. The Fighting Irish win a close game but fail to cover the spread.
Also have OU winning 48-7. Tulsa will be unable to sustain drives or stop the 3 headed monster
of Ford, Perine, and Ross.
Matt
Kansas State (-12) at Iowa State - Man, I had such high hopes for the Cyclones this year. Mark Mangino comes in to run the offense and Paul Rhoads as always been a defensive guy. Just doesn't appear to have all the tools on the field though.
Oklahoma (-25) at Tulsa - Here's all you need to know about this game. Tulane had a running back average 14.3 yards per carry (15 carries) against Tulsa last week.
Duke (-19) at Troy - Duke football is for real. Troy...not so much.
