The Big Twelve Conference acknowledged the accomplishments of Oklahoma running backs Samaje Perine and Alex Ross with weekly awards on Monday. Perine, who rushed for 242 yards and four touchdowns on Saturday night, was named as the Big Twelve's Offensive Player of the Week and Ross was given the Special Teams Player of the Week award.
After West Virginia took a 24-17 lead, just before the half, Ross returned the ensuing kickoff back 100 yards for the tying score. The momentum shift allowed Oklahoma to go into the locker room on an upswing and the Sooners came out and dominated the Mountaineers using Perine and a ground and pound offense. Ross also had 56 rushing yards on eight carries and caught three passes for 19 yards in the game.
In addition to the conference awards, Ross was named as the Kickoff Returner Performer of the Week and Perine was honorable mention for the Running Back Performer of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards.
