We need to start this post out by saying thanks to Rich and SaintSooner for carrying the CCM banner last week with our picks. Apparently Donnie and I got some bad juju or something (Seriously, Central Michigan?) and wen't down in flames. Our overall season records don't look awesome either but they sure look better than they did the week before. Here's our very non-expert picks for college football's fourth week of action.

Donnie

East Carolina (-2) over North Carolina 27-10. East Carolina easily covers. ECU Nose Guard Terry Williams (6'1" 353lbs.) is almost unblockable in the middle of the line. I would not want to be a team going to play them.

LSU (-9.5) over Miss St. 31-13. Miss St is a decent team but a night game in Baton Rouge combined with LSU's talent will ultimately spell doom for the Bulldogs.

Alabama (-14) over Florida 34-16. I think this a bad matchup for the Gators along with playing on the road. I expect it to be close at half (13-10), but the 2nd half will be dominated by the Crimson Tide.

Saint Sooner

Duke (-17) loses outright to TULANE.  Geneo Grissom, Jordan Phillips, and Eric Striker wreak havoc in the Blue Devils backfield and Samaje Perine... oh, sorry, wrong alma mater.  I'll still root for them even if they get stomped like Walter Mondale.

Kansas (-3.5) loses outright to CENTRAL MICHIGAN. I think Charlie Weis is a good coach who took the wrong job.  His Notre Dame/Patriots accolades haven't been able to draw recruits.  His letter of resignation is already written, and he will succeed better at his next posting.

BYU(-14) covers over Virginia.  Their application to join the Big XII should be moved higher to the mail pile.

(I did tell everybody not to take my picks seriously, right?)

Rich

ECU (-2) vs North Carolina - The Pirates have shown they can go toe-to-toe with some of the best after taking South Carolina to the wire and later beating Virginia Tech. While they may be peaking too early in the season, there's no denying this team has potential. I'm looking for them to win convincingly at home against the Tarheels.

Florida (+14.5) vs Alabama - Bob Stoops continuously says the SEC can't handle the spread offense. The Gators look to add their name to the list of teams with a hand up over Bama. A newly installed spread attack may just do that for Will Muschamp. Regardless, I think the Crimson Tide take this game but the .5 tacked on the end of 14 point spread has me taking Florida and the points.

Clemson (+17) vs Florida St. - I seem to be picking the high profile games this week. In the ACC match-up of the week the No. 1 team in the country will be without their starting QB for one half. Unfortunately the consequence of Jameis Winston's decision could cost the entire program a repeat of last season. Clemson on the other hand has had this game circled on the schedule since last season. Motivated and out for revenge, the Tigers surprise NoleNation handing the reigning national champs their first loss of the season.

Matt

Pittsburgh (-7) vs. Iowa - The Hawkeyes are reeling after a bitter loss to in-state rival Iowa State last weekend. Now they go on the road and play an even better Pittsburgh team. I'll take the Panthers and the points thank you.

Georgia Tech (+8) at Virginia Tech - Kudos to East Carolina for the upset win over the Hokies last weekend. They have definitely found themselves on the radar of a few of our guys here on Friday Locks but I'm just gonna say that I don't think that Va Tech is that good. In the battle of the Techs, I think the Yellow Jackets can stay within a touchdown.

Old Dominion (+7) at Rice - OK so maybe you didn't know that Old Dominion had a football team. Perhaps we should have shared this news sooner. Were you aware that Rice has a really bad football team though? ODU stays within a touchdown here and may even have a shot at pulling off an upset win.

Think you can pick better that us?  Sound off in the comments section below. Friday Locks is sponsored by Totally Tickets. For your OU football tickets make sure to check out Totally Tickets.
