Friday Locks | Split On Baylor And Buffalo But Feeling Good About Arkansas At Texas Tech

New, 2 comments

Can the Baylor Bears cover 35 points on the road?

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

And here we thought it was a rough week to start the season for our Friday Locks but then last week was downright atrocious. So now we've got to rebound and were hoping it happens tonight...and it will for at least one of us. Rich and St. Sooner are on the opposite side of the Baylor game and I honestly don't know which way to lean with it. My guy says take Buffalo and the 35 though. Saint Sooner and I are on the same page with the Arkansas/Texas Tech game and Rich and I agree on Georgia/South Carolina. Beyond those three games it's pretty much a free for all.

West Virginia (+3) vs Maryland - The Mountaineers may be an underrated team this season. With Clint Trickett at the helm and Dana Holgorsen pulling the strings, WVU appears to have a few tricks up their sleeve. In the end, I think West Virginia wins out right.

Georgia (-5.5) vs South Carolina - Todd Gurley may be the best player in college football this year. Hand the ball off to him and force the defense to make the stop continuously. Throughout the first two games, SC has underachieved and could be on the road for disaster. Georgia is at least 7 points better by my count.

Duke (-15.5) vs Kansas -  Simply put, the Jayhawks are just that bad.

USC (-17) at Boston College. - USC wins comfortably, but travel across the country, a night game, and coming off a big win against Stanford will lead to USC coming out flat. Score will be closer than the actual game.

UCLA (-7.5) vs. Texas -  UCLA is not as good as where they are ranked. Fortunately they are playing one of the worst teams in the Big 12. The Texas Dline keeps the game closer than BYU, but UCLA easily handles the Horns.

Kentucky (+18) at Florida - Florida's offense is better, but not that much. Both teams play a sloppy game with Florida prevailing in the end.

Also OU will have very little trouble with Tennessee. Making a statement against the SEC along with putting forward a good show for all the recruits in town will lead to a final score of 45-17.

St. Sooner

INDIANA (-8) at Bowling Green -  My first sports love was Hoosiers basketball.  Out of childhood love for Bobby Knight's squads, I have to root for Indiana football whenever they're favored against someone.  This is that rare occasion.

BAYLOR over Buffalo.  Mostly just because it's fun to say out loud, even at 34.5.

ARKANSAS (+1.5) at Texas Tech -  I think Bielma's a better coach than the pretty boy, and also the SEC should have something to write home about in terms of Big XII matchups this weekend, and heaven knows it won't be Tennessee....

Matt

Central Michigan (+6.5) vs. Syracuse - In my humble opinion the wrong team is favored here. CMU is 2-0 on the season with a win last week at Purdue. Syracuse struggled to a one-point win over Villanova. I think CMU wins this game outright.

Georgia (-6.5) at South Carolina - Steve Spurrier and company have had nothing but troubles to start the season and that will continue this weekend against Georgia. Bulldogs win this by at least a touchdown.

Arkansas (+1.5) at Texas Tech - It has been all smoke and mirrors for the Red Raiders this season and this is the week that it catches up to them. The Hogs have a pretty salty offense (47ppg) and Tech is struggling to stop people on defense.
