Oklahoma Sooners Quarterback Trevor Knight Shines In Scrimmage | Sooners Leave The Field Healthy

New, 9 comments

The Sooners participated in a 90-play scrimmage on Owen Field Saturday and here's what we're hearing...

Streeter Lecka

Sophomore quarterback Trevor Knight was really better than good. Going into the season there is a lot of confidence in Oklahoma's defense and while they got the best of the offense more than a few times but Trevor Knight also had his shining moments, including a touchdown run.

Durron Neal continued his impressive summer with some nice grabs and separation from defensive backs. I firmly believe that he is entrenched not only as a starter but also as a key playmaker within the offense.

Freshman Jordan Smallwood Also had some shining moments in the scrimmage and seems to be continuing with the momentum that he picked up in the additional practices leading into the bowl game last season.

Not exactly sure what is going down with the running backs situation yet but the only thing we've been told about the scrimmage is that Alex Ross got a number of touches. While I'm sure that Keith Ford and Samaje Perine did as well, there isn't a lot of info (as in none at all) coming out on the backfield.

On the defensive side of the ball, safety Quentin Hayes made some good plays both down field and behind the line of scrimmage.

The corner position opposite of Zack Sanchez still seems to be wide open and Jordan Thomas appears to still be in the mix. The 6-1/183 freshman from Klein, TX was reported to have held his on in the competition on Saturday.

Possibly the greatest news is that, to this point of the preseason, we've not heard of any injury reports coming from camp. You have to love that regardless of if you're a player, coach, or a fan.
