As the NFL wraps up week two of the preseason tonight with Cleveland and Washington, teams are going a bit longer with their starters and the window to make an impression is slowly closing for the guys fighting for a roster spot. A handful of Sooners made the most of their opportunity this weekend while others struggled. Here's how our guys fared over the weekend.
Demontre Hurst recorded four tackles and Tress Way averaged 43.3 yards per punt (3 punts) in Chicago's 20-19 win over Jacksonville on Thursday night. Jamell Fleming recorded two tackles and two passes defended in for the Jaguars in the loss.
Roy Finch had a big night for the Patriots in their 42-35 win over Philadelphia on Friday. Finch carried the ball seven times for 37 yards and a score. He also caught two passes for 34 yards and returned two kickoffs for a combined 52 yards. Lane Johnson played for the Eagles.
Linebacker Curtis Lofton led New Orleans with six tackles in their 31-24 win over Tennessee. Gabe Ikard recorded a tackle on special teams for the Titans.
Offensive tackle Corey Brandon made the field for Seattle in their 41-14 win over San Diego.
Defensive tackle Stacy McGee recorded one take down in the Raiders 27-26 win over Detroit. Ryan Broyles caught two passes for 42 yards and linebacker Travis Lewis recorded two tackles in the losing effort for the Lions.
Sam Bradford looked sharp for the Rams on Saturday. The former Heisman winner connected on 9-of-12 passes for 101 yards and a score. Davin Joseph started at right guard for St. Louis.
Tight end Jermaine Gresham caught two passes for 13 yards in Cincinnati's 25-17 loss to the New York Jets.
Dominique Franks recorded two tackles for the Ravens in their 37-30 win over Dallas. The Cowboys offense was aided by DeMarco Murray (8 carries/34 yards, 1 reception/21 yards) and James Hanna (3 receptions/31 yards, 1 TD) who scored for the second week in a row.
Quarterback Landry Jones had an off night by just going 2-for-5 for 53 yards and a pick in Pittsburgh's 19-16 win over Buffalo. Justin Brown had one catch for six yards in the win.
Damien Williams carried the ball 11 times for 20 yards, with a score, and caught a pass for four yards in Miami's 20-14 win over Tampa Bay. Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy recorded three tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble for the Bucs in the loss.
Phil Loadholt started at right tackle for Minnesota in their 30-28 win over Arizona. Safety Tony Jefferson started for the second week for the Cardinals and recorded a tackle. Linebacker Keenan Clayton also played for Arizona.
Safety Quinton Carter recorded three tackles and linebacker Corey Nelson had four tackles and a fumble recovery in Denver's 34-0 win over San Francisco. Brennan Clay had a slow night for the Broncos, gaining just five yards on four carries.
Frank Alexander recorded four tackles and Casey Walker one in Carolina's 28-16 win over Kansas City on Sunday night. Donald Stephenson started at right tackle for the Chiefs.
Guard Chris Chester and offensive tackle Trent Williams will play for Washington tonight against Cleveland.
