Update (6:57 PM) - Mixon's lawyer, Kevin Finlay, has issued a statement in which he said that the running back has not been suspended but is being held out per school policy.
"Our understanding is he is not being suspended, he is being held out of activities pending the conclusion of the investigation. I believe that is University of Oklahoma policy, and he is being treated as would any student-athlete."
Update (6:32 PM) - The university released the following very brief statement:
"Joe Mixon is not reporting for team activities at this time. We will continue to monitor the situation."
My understanding is that the suspension is temporary (pending the results of the investigation) and is in compliance with the University of Oklahoma policy.
Reports are breaking tonight by News9 and SoonerScoop that freshman running back Joe Mixon has been suspended from the football team. Head Coach Bob Stoops is supposed to make a statement to the media at some point this evening and we will keep you updated as soon as we hear more.
