In a story that was first reported by the fellas at SoonerScoop, Oklahoma Basketball Coach Lon Kruger has landed a big prospect for his 2015 class. Akolda Manyang is the seven-foot cousin of former Sooner Longar Longar and is currently the top ranked JUCO player in the country.
In his first season at Indian Hills (Iowa) Community College, Manyang averaged 8.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game and led the team to a birth in the NJCAA national title game and a 34-3 record.
On Sunday he chose to commit to Oklahoma over Arizona State and Minnesota. A vicious shot blocker who can play strong with his back to the basket, Manyang also has the type of range that Kruger likes to use to extend defenses. After building a solid group of guards in his backcourt, Kruger is now building up a frontcourt that could make the Sooners a perennial contender in the Big XII conference.
