2015 QB Recruiting Tidbits

StudentSports

1. Top dual-threat QB Torrance Gibson recently narrowed his list of favorites (although the list is still very long) and Oklahoma made the cut. The Sooners however appear to be on the outside looking in at this moment. Gibson let everyone know via twitter who his current favorites are.

The Sooners are still in the hunt, but it's very likely that the Gibson is not a part of the class of 2015.

2. Kyler Murray 5'11" 172lbs. from Allen, TX also has an offer from the Sooners, but it appears that he is all but a lock for Texas A&M. While small in stature, Murray has lit up one of the toughest districts in 5A for the last few years. Murray has offers from the likes of  Auburn, Florida, tOSU, Clemson, Texas, and Texas A&M to go along with his Sooner offer.

3. Jarret Stidham. Stidham has given his verbal commitment to the Red Raiders choosing them over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, tOSU, Oregon, Tennesee, Texas A&M and the Sooners.

4. JW Ketchum. Ketchum is another dual threat QB, but many wonder if he has the ability to translate into a successful college quarterback, but his athleticism could easily make him a great WR or DB. Ketchum has offers from the likes of Alabama, LSU, Wisconsin, and Texas along with his Sooner offer. Many consider Ketchum to be a lean to Texas.

OU could easily find themselves on the outside looking in for these 4 qb offers. So the question is where do they go next?

Some have suggested with the transfer and emergence of Baker Mayfield combined with Justice Hansen, Cody Thomas, and Trevor Knight that the Sooners could actually not a sign a QB in the class of 2015. This option to me seems unwise, because transfers are always possible along with any number of injuries could leave the Sooners with a depth options going forward.

Some have wondered with the Sooners would extend an offer to local high school produce John Kolar 6'4 185lbs. Kolar plays for Norman North High School and is currently a verbal commit to Oklahoma State University. He did however visit the Sooners before he committed to the Cowboys.

Another option would be for the Sooners to look at the JUCO qbs in this class. This option would not be wise in my opinion however, because there is very little chance a JUCO would beat out Knight.

My prediction: The Sooners next offer is to someone like Kolar who they feel has the ability to develop and wait his turn. As far as other options at this point, little is known outside of the Sooner coaching staff.
