Oregon Ducks Softball Blanks Florida State In Game Two Of Women's College Wold Series

Rich DeCray - SBN

Both morning session games of the opening day of Women's College World Series featured shutouts and dominating pitching. After Florida blanked Baylor to start the session, Oregon scattered three runs and eleven hits, and backed by an outstanding pitching performance from Cheridan Hawkins, shutout Florida State.

The Ducks scored runs in each of the first two innings to build a 2-0 lead and then used back-to-back doubles by Koral Costa and Alexa Peterson to move the final score of 3-0.

Hawkins improved to 34-4 on the year after fanning six FSU batters and allowing just the one hit.

Florida State will now play Baylor in an elimination game on Friday. The winner of that game will get either Florida or Oregon in another elimination game on Saturday.
