The 1999 season was the season with Bob Stoops at the helm of the Sooner football program. It obviously started a new era in Norman...an era of winning.
That `99 team set the tone for what would be a national championship run in 2000 and a string of eight conference titles over the next fourteen seasons. They won their first three games by a combined score of 132-31 and finished with Oklahoma's first winning season since 1993.
The invitation to play in the 1999 Independence Bowl marked the first of what has been fifteen consecutive bowl appearances for the Sooners under Stoops.
