The Big XII baseball awards were announced on Tuesday and something that Oklahoma fans have known for quite some time now was affirmed by the conference coaches, Sheldon Neuse is a phenomenal player.
In addition to being a unanimous selection for the All-Conference first-team, Neuse was tabbed as the Big XII's Freshman of the Year.
Hitting .290 for the year, he had the fourth best batting average on the team but set the pace with team-highs in triples (7), home runs (7), and RBIs (40). He recorded multiple hits in twenty different games this season, his triples were the most in the conference, and his RBIs placed him fifth in the Big Twelve in that category.
In addition to what he did from the plate, he also made starts at numerous places on the infield where he was responsible for 49 put outs and 96 assists. If that wasn't enough, Neuse made eight appearances on the mound to record 10 strikeouts, a 1-0 record and a 2.70 ERA.
Congrats Sheldon!
