Oklahoma Sooners MBB Adds Late Addition In PG Giovanni McLean

Ethan Miller

Originally reported by the Norman Transcript, Lon Kruger and the Oklahoma Sooners have found a replacement after news of Je'lon Hornbeak's decision to transfer broke. That replacement, Giovanni McLean hails from the Bronx and should be a nice addition for the Sooners who have lacked point guard depth since Kruger took over.

Playing at Westchester Community College, McLean averaged 16.8 points per game to go along side 7.4 assists. His averages helped Westchester to a 28-5 record last season. McLean announced on Friday that he was committing to the University of Oklahoma. However, there may be a few issues to work out before landing on campus...

...a source close to the program told the Transcript on Friday afternoon that McLean still has some eligibility issues to clear up and must pass through the NCAA clearinghouse before he can enroll in June. - John Shinn | The Norman Transcript

Others in on McLean during his recruitment process included Missouri as well as St. John's. With the signing period ending on may 21st, it is unclear if the Sooners will wait on the NCAA Clearing House or move on to find another talented ball player.
