Date: December 7, 2002
Location: Reliant Stadium | Houston, TX
Score: Oklahoma 29, Colorado 7
Synopsis: Touchdown passes from Nate Hybl to Trent Smith (3-yards) and Mark Clayton (21-yards) gave Oklahoma a 13-0 lead before Colorado speedster Jeremy Bloom took a punt return 80 yards for a score. That would be the only time the Buffs would cross the goal line on the night as the Oklahoma defense pitched a shutout against the North Division champs.
Running back Quentin Griffin took over in the second half, rushing for two scores (36 & 27-yards) to seal up the Sooners' second conference title. Griffin ended the night with 188 yards on 29 carries and was supported by 79 rushing yards from teammate Kejuan Jones.
Why it made my list: After missing out on Kansas City in 2000, I wasn't going to miss Oklahoma's second opportunity for a conference title (Unfortunately I did make it to Kansas City in 2003). This was my first opportunity to see the Sooners win a conference title in person and the opportunity didn't disappoint.
What would be your number five?
