Bedlam Baseball Comes To Stillwater

Rich DeCray - SBN

The first time these to teams met, the Oklahoma Sooners were coming off a weekend series win while the Oklahoma St. Cowboys found themselves with a top 20 ranking. With Tyler Nurdin taking to the mound for the Cowboys during the mid-week bout, he held the Sooners at bay for five innings. In that short time, Nurdin gave up two hits and one run as the defense backed his every move. Taking an early lead behind two solo homeruns, the Cowboys never let up. On the evening, OU managed to record three hits, a season low, before falling 3-1.

Now, the Sooners are looking to end a four game skid as they head to Stillwater to take on the #13 Cowboys once again in a nonconference Bedlam match-up. This time, Oklahoma St. is on a five game winning streak and sports a 26-10 overall record.

RHP-Robert Tasin (RJr., 3-3, 3.82)
LHP-Garrett Williams (Fr., 3-0, 2.79)

Facing Oklahoma's lineup (batting .288 this year) will be freshman LHP Garrett Williams who currently owns a 2.79 ERA. On the season, Williams is 3-0 after making nine appearances (five starts) for 29 innings of experience. Through those 29 innings, one thing is for sure...Williams throws strikes early and often evidenced by his 35 strikeouts. He will be facing a lineup that is batting .288 on the season and ranked 4th in the Big XII.

To counter the move, the Sooners will throw RHP Robert Tasin who has already faced the Cowboys once this season. However, the kid's confidence is growing since suffering the loss at the beginning of this month. In 30.2 innings, Tasin has fanned 26 batters while giving up 27 hits and 14 runs.

The Oklahoma St. lineup is anchored by Ryan Sluder who is batting a team leading .320 average but has yet to record a homerun. Behind him sits a familiar name in Gage Green with a .313 average. Currently, the Cowboys .264 team batting average ranks them 8th in the Big XII conference.
