Oklahoma Sooners Baseball | Hector Lorenzana Named Player Of The Week

Rich DeCray SBN

For the second week in a row, and the third time this season, an Oklahoma baseball player has been named as the Player of the Week. Seven days after freshman Sheldon Neuse was honored as the conference Newcomer of the Week Hector Lorenzana was named as the Big Twelve's Co-Player of the Week.

Batting .474 last week, in five games against TCU, Arkansas-Little Rock, and Kansas State, Lorenzana drove in three runs and scored five runs himself. In three of the five games last week Lorenzana recorded multiple hits including a 3-for-5 performance in Saturday's 11-2 win over Kansas State.

Over the last week, Lorenzana's has been .632 and his on base percentage was .500 during that time.

Oklahoma infielder Mac James was the first Sooner selected to receive a weekly honor this season when he was named as the Player of the Week on March 10th. That started what has now been a three-week stretch of Sooners selected to receive weekly honors.
