Winners of four of their last five games, the Oklahoma Sooners travel to Arlington, TX to play the UTA Mavericks Tuesday night. Facing a set of struggles, the Mavericks are completely opposite of Oklahoma in that they've lost four of their last five.
UTA has a 1-2 record against Big XII opponents with losses to Oklahoma State and Baylor and a win against TCU. In common opponents, played so far, the Mavericks dropped a 2-1 decision against Abilene Christian on Sunday.
With a team batting average of .291, UTA hasn't had any problems knocking the ball around the park. Senior Matt Shortall leads the team in RBI with 15 and is batting ,384 on the year. Greg McCall leads the team with three home runs, and has a batting average of .269 to go along with his 13 RBIs.
The Sooners will be facing senior lefty Chase Weaver on the mound. With a 1-0 record on the year, he's sporting a 3.45 ERA. In six appearances this year. he's fanned thirteen batters.
Oklahoma will be throwing junior Connor Buchman who has no decisions on the season with a 2.16 ERA.
From the plate, Mac James continues to be the hottest hitter in the Big XII. With 16 RBIs on the season, and two home runs, James is batting .517 through Oklahoma's first 16 games. Hunter Haley is second on the team in batting average (.400) and has knocked a team-high four home runs. Six Sooners are batting .300 or better and the team has a .306 batting average on the year.
First pitch against UTA is scheduled for 7:00 PM and the game will be played in the Ballpark at Arlington.
