New Blood On The Mound - As anticipated, Oklahoma turns the ball over to a brand new group of starters. Sophomore Jacob Evans will make his first ever career start for the Sooners. Used primary as a closer in 2013, the Freshman All-American earned nine saves to go along with his seven wins. It'll mark the first time a Sooner hurler has made his debut as a starter on opening day since Zach Neal took the mound in 2010.
Scouting The Enemy - Seton Hall was 37-19 last season but stumbled in the Big East Tournament. Players to keep an eye on include junior first baseman Sal Annunziata hit .319 as a sophomore last season while senior third baseman Chris Selden hit .320 and stole 17 bases. Selden will be moving from the infield to the outfield for the Pirates this season in an effort to replace veteran leadership and experience that left after last year. Opening day starter Josh Prevost is the veteran leader of the Seton Hall pitching staff.
Oklahoma In Season Openers - Since 1962, Oklahoma is 35-17 on opening day and 23-1 when playing the first game of the season at home, including 22-0 at L. Dale Mitchell Park. All-time in home openers, the Sooners are 48-4 going back to 1962, including 32-0 at L. Dale Mitchell. - Oklahoma Sooners Baseball Press Release
