It was only a matter of time before new offers rolled out at the linebacker position for the class of 2015. With the Sooners needing 3 (preferably 4) commits for this class and the outlook looking bleak, the Sooners were bound to offer additional prospects. Sometimes these offers are to 2nd tier or plan B type prospects, but this is not the case with Josh Smith.
Smith who checks in at 6'3" 220lbs. is a current Vanderbilt commit, but that commit is VERY VERY soft. While many schools that have offered Smith have filled up at the linebacker position, he once held offers from Bama and Auburn. He is a 4 star prospect. Smith is expected to take visits to both Kentucky and OU. This was confirmed via twitter by 247sports Barton Simmons

This appears to be a Stoops vs. Stoops Battle for Smith's signature. Adding him along with Ricky DeBerry would go along way to filling a gaping hole at linebacker for the Sooners. Expect Smith to visit before National Signing Day.
