Friday Locks | We're Unanimous On The Mountaineers

Friday is the day where we show exactly how much we don't know about picking games against the spread. We've got a couple of fists this week as we not only all picked the same game but we also all picked the same side. We've also got a couple of guys on opposite sides of the Ohio State/Michigan State game.

West Virginia (-3.5) vs Texas - Unfortunately for the Longhorns, the WVU defense continues to hum along at an pace not seen before. With a key pieces of the offense in place, I expect the Mountaineers to come out of Austin with a win in an ugly game. West Virginia will cover this weekend against Texas.

Oregon (-8.5) vs Utah - The Utes best wins of the season come at home against ranked opponents. With the average margin of victory being 2 points in those game, I think they have a difficult time producing the same result against Marcus Mariota the Ducks.

Michigan St. (-3.5) vs Ohio St. - A debate between Matt and myself rages on. After taking MSU's side in the argument, how can I not take them here? In my opinion, the Spartans may be one of the most underrated teams in college football and they are out to prove why they stand a head above the rest of the B10. Give me Sparty and the points!

WVU (-3.5) over Texas 31-24. I don't believe that Texas will win another game this year. With a final schedule of WVU, @OSU, and TCU the Horns are on their way to a 4-8 season. This game will be somewhat closer than it should, because the game is played in Austin. No bowl game and a bad season has all the trappings of disaster for the Charlie Strong regime in Austin.

Iowa State (-3.5) over KU 34-24. Neither team is that great, but the Cyclones are just slightly better than the Jayhawks. Kansas has improved since the departure of Weis, but still are still the bottom feeders of the Big 12. This weekend will be no different as the Cyclones prevail in Lawrence.

Ohio State (+3.5) over Michigan State 34-31. I don't have any real reason to pick this game, other than I believe that the Buckeyes are a better team than the Spartans. Barrett continues to impress in a big road win and this win will propel the Buckeyes into the playoff picture.

WEST VIRGINIA over Texas.  3.5, Vegas? Seriously?  Is Oprah going to give me a new car, too?

NORTHWESTERN (+1.5) in the upset over Michigan.  Because the Wolverines need to hit rock bottom before finding their moment of clarity and taking twelve steps to climb back to where they're supposed to be.

ARIZONA STATE (-2.5) covers versus Notre Dame.  Sun Devils versus Touchdown Jesus?  No, it's not a religious war prophesizing the end of days, it's the two best sneaky-good teams in the nation facing off.  Outside of OU/Baylor and TCU/K-State, this is the game I'd most like to watch this weekend.

Matt

Utah State (-7)  at Wyoming - It's been a few weeks since I've dialed up a Friday night special so here we go. The Cowboys are 102nd nationally in scoring offense and I'm not sure that they can stay within 10 points of a Utah State team that has the nation's 25th ranked scoring defense.

Georgia Tech (-3.5) at N.C. State - I don't see this game being a blowout  but I do think the Yellow Jackets win by at least a touchdown and that's more than enough points to cover.

West Virginia (-3.5) at Texas - I don't understand this line at all. I do believe that Texas can ugly this game up but I sure don't see them keeping it within a touchdown.

Think you can do better at picking games? Well...you probably could. Hit us up in the comments section and let us know what games you like this weekend.
